GoPro has become a mainstay in both the action sports world and everyday activities with their durable camera that captures pretty much anything a user can do. In a collaborative and open move, the camera company has recently announced a new developer program that gives users and companies a chance to go beyond just recording and integrate GoPro’s products into their own use cases.
One sports tech company taking advantage of this new program is Coach’s Eye, an instant video analysis solution from TechSmith. Athletes and coaches can now wirelessly import video straight from their GoPro to the Coach’s Eye app, which provides video feedback for coaches and players to use to adjust their training.

“Coach’s Eye has pushed the boundaries of video analysis for years, but our integration with GoPro allows users to go places they could never go before to capture video,” explained Brooks Andrus, director of mobile products for Coach’s Eye at TechSmith. “The increased connectivity also means users can be mobile in their coaching, learning and training. Even more, it gives them access to the action as it is happens in high-definition, wide-range video, which ultimately presents more meaningful opportunities for feedback.”
The Coach’s Eye app allows you to record on any camera and now with the collaboration with GoPro, users can use any GoPro product to film and record in real-time in order to capture and wirelessly transfer video to a mobile device. This allows users to analyze and share with other players right away.
The GoPro cameras give users of Coach’s Eye a unique perspective with angles that they normally would not have achieved. Because it is small, GoPro allows teams to be more mobile and go places that phones and other cameras can not normally go with the ultimate goal to be capturing as many angles of practice and training as possible in order to review the video to try and improve.
“Coach’s Eye’s compatibility with GoPro enables users to be more agile than every in their training, and we recognize that these new opportunities to review and analyze GoPro content will provide a performance edge that coaches and athletes crave to get ahead of the competition,” said Adam Silver, director of strategic product partnerships at GoPro. “We’re excited to welcome the creative innovation of TechSmith and Coach’s Eye into the GoPro Developer Program.”
Coach’s Eye is just one of the many companies GoPro has been working with to develop a better user experience, via the GoPro Developer Program.
“The GoPro Developer Program is a way for us to celebrate the innovative work of our developer community and more importantly, help enable what comes next,” said Nick Woodman, CEO and founder of GoPro.
