Fantag Mobile Video Tech Debuts With Sacramento Republic FC

Earlier this year, Fantag, a pioneer in mobile video technology, opened an office just across the street from the Sacramento Kings’ Golden 1 Center. Now, the patent-pending video engagement platform has launched with Sacramento Republic FC — the region’s professional soccer club.

During Republic FC’s Sept. 23 match against Oklahoma City Energy FC, fans had the first opportunity to download the Fantag app and integrate it into their match day experience.

With the touch of the screen on their smartphones, fans streaming the game can instantly create a brief highlight from the play that just happened without having to record the video themselves, as their phones are synchronized with in-stadium camera feeds.

When you open the Fantag app, a schedule will appear to tell you if there are any events nearby that are Fantag-ready. Once users select an event, they will be able to select a highlight they want to watch and save. The highlight selected will then be shown to the viewer from multiple angles if more than one person is recording.

“The Fantag platform allows our fans to view replays in real-time an at their control, while also giving them the opportunity to share these moments with their friends instantaneously and in a seamless manner,” Ben Gumpert, COO of Sac Soccer & Entertainment Holdings, said in a statement. “From our inception, Republic FC has been focused on delivering great fan experiences, and the Fantag platform is another step in that effort.”

“We’ve identified a need that many fans have to capture and share the moments that matter most to them,” Fantag founder and CEO Brian Dombrowski said in a statement. “At the same time, we discovered the need that so many teams have — whether they are youth, high school, college, professional — for providing the special content their fans are demanding. We are proud to formally unveil the platform with the Sacramento Republic, which will help us signal our entry into the large and diverse sports video market.”
