Fit For 90 Shows Coaches When Players Are At High Risk Of Injury

Among athletes we have seen a growing trend in wearable technology, and data driven analysis to increase performance. Heart Rates, and GPS monitoring from wearables are being used amongst many professional teams to identify training session trends. However, Fit For 90 has created a new wave of technology that is a proven success.

Fit for 90 is a player-monitoring system that collects subjective data from each athlete to analyze and predict daily readiness for training and competition based on a 100 point scale. The system is driven by player feedback to quantify fatigue, mood, sleep quality and time, as well as stress level, ultimately producing a score for each athlete that is displayed in the coach’s interface. The knowledge provided by the data allows the coach to better plan their day’s workouts, and directly address the athlete’s overall level of readiness, as well as specific muscle soreness. By identifying all of these areas trainers and coaches are able to be more specific with their workouts to maximize the athlete’s training to optimize performance and at the same time prevent injury.

Fit For 90 has been a huge success among the teams that have used it. The most notable stories of success include the U.S. Women’s National Team winning the Women’s World Cup, the New York Red Bulls winning the MLS Supporters Shield for the best team over the course of the season, the National Women’s Soccer League Chicago Red Stars making it to the league semi-final, and Duke University Women’s Soccer making it to the NCAA finals.

Building off of the success that Fit For 90 has had, they will now be looking to expand their system into other sports, and will also be looking into developing an individual system for all athletes. “At the individual level it won’t just be a monitoring system. Once the player logs in and provides Fit for 90 with data they will get feedback, and tailored workout plans unique to their needs by taking all the data that they just put in to make a highly individualized work out,” says Fit For 90 CEO, Dr. John Cone.

The purpose of the individual system is to provide a professional level of service targeting injury prevention for all athletes, no matter what age and skill level. The system is “taking my experience and methodology to individualize training for recovery and injury prevention, and essentially deliver the same quality of care to a youth athlete that a professional athlete would get when I worked day-to-day with them,” says Cone. The system is unique in the sense that the athletes can receive an infinite amount of workouts that are specific to their needs. Once the athlete puts in their own data, and develops a profile they will receive a score and workout tailored to them, each player’s data will also be shared with parents and coaches in order to optimize training and prevent injury.

Initially, Fit For 90 was as a monitoring system for soccer, but has rapidly grown through word of mouth to be used by nearly all sports “volleyball, football, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, etc.” says Cone.  The new individual player monitoring system is scheduled to be released during this upcoming summer. Costs for Fit For 90’s individual player monitoring system will be issued as a subscription type fee, with pricing below $10 per month/athlete. To learn more about Fit For 90 visit their website.
