So how does this work?
The FitPal Patch simply sticks onto the torso of the body and can be worn all day (yes even when you are sleeping), every day. It will then stream information and statistics such as stress monitoring, resting and irregular heart rate, and calories burned. This will upload to a smart phone, where it can then be stored for future reference.
In just one month, the FitPal Patch has surpassed their goal of $100,000 on Kickstarter, receiving backing from over 580 people. The FitPal team is based out of Seattle, Washington where a group of medical doctors and scientists have teamed up to research heart readings, which will provide extensive results compared to other heart rate devices.
As for its competition, the Fitbit, Garmin Vivosmart HR, and Jawbone UP2 look to be a few of many competitors in the crowded fitness wearable space. To prove its worth, businesses such as, The Mars 500 Project, The Institute of Biomedical Problems, and The Center for Applied Psychophysiology for East Carolina University have endorsed the FitPal Patch.
Although it won’t be officially released until November 2016, people who donate to the Kickstarter fund will receive a prototype, charger, adhesive, and the app for your phone.
