Glu Mobile Launches MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017, Partners With Chicago Cubs’ Kris Bryant

Last month, Glu Mobile launched its third iteration of the Tap Sports Baseball series and for this new installment, it was the first time the mobile gaming developer and publisher featured MLB team licenses.

Glu — which is the also the makers of the game Kim Kardashian Hollywood — partnered with the MLB, MLBPA and MLBPAA along with Chicago Cubs star and 2016 NL MVP Kris Bryant, who is the face of  the game. For MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017, players can strategically mange their own team through a redesigned user-interface, enhanced graphics and MLB team, logo and player marks.

“Team licenses add an incredible amount of value to the game’s overall experience,” Jerome Collin, Vice President of Sports and Racing Games at Glu Mobile said in an recent interview with PocketGamer.Biz.

Additionally, Collin called Tap Sports Baseball 2017 the most fun mobile sports game, the most accessible and the most authentic as well.” Upon launch, he also said that MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 reached No. 1 in the Top Free chart in the iTunes App Store and No. 2 on Google Play.

Collin specifically highlighted that the portrait orientation and one-touch controls are aspects of the new Tap Sports Baseball game that fans will notice.

“It’s easy for a new user to quickly open the game, choose their favorite team and immediately start hitting the ball,” he said. “We wanted that low barrier to entry so that all users, regardless of skill level, can easily play and have fun immediately.

“But below the surface is an incredibly deep baseball simulation which ensures that the game feels like real baseball, right down to the smallest details.”

As Collin further explained, if a hardcore baseball fan dives deeper into the game, he or she will find various strategic baseball options in addition to player statistics like sabermetrics for regularly improving the roster.

Other new features for MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2017 include new player ratings system, advancements in presentation, high quality on-field graphics and club shop environments, among others.
