Panasonic demonstrated new technology at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, including what the company called Window Augmented Reality Projection. This technology could change the way spectators inside stadium suite levels view the game.
Window Augmented Reality Projection can be done with transparent film attached to a windowpane. It’s “a special film applied to allow you to overlay AR effects on top of it, so that special film on the glass allows images to be projected without obscuring your view of the live action on the field.”

A tablet is used to control what appears on the glass, from a team roster to live feeds of different stadium cameras. This way, fans can have a view of the whole field while simultaneously being able to view live close-ups of the game as it unfolds. Control is in their hands, as they are able to choose among an array of camera angles rather than having a television broadcast sample the angles for them.
At CES, Panasonic also showed how at a connected stadium during the same soccer match, transparent screen technology can be used to turn a clear shop window into digital signage showing images and information about products. Information can be downloaded using Panasonic’s LinkRay light ID tool.
