During this year’s U.S Open International Business Machines (IBM) and the U.S Tennis Association (USTA) are revealing cutting edge technologies for fans to keep up throughout the tournament.

The technologies are designed to capture, analyze, and deliver real-time scores and insights to let every tennis fan follow each match in real-time while also bringing predictive analytics, cloud, mobile and social aspects.

Fans can have instant access to tennis stats and info due to the updated mobile apps, available for Apple iPad and iPhone, and Android devices, as well as IBM’s streaming analytics technology. The technology will identify and alert USTA to record-breaking player achievements, significant championship stats, and personal career highlights. This can all be shared with fans via social media, websites and news sources. And this is all in addition to the U.S Open tournament website that IBM designed.

Another interesting platform for fans is the SlamTracker application which gives a deeper analysis of player and ball position data. It uncovers hidden performance patterns that impact player performance and influence the outcome of a match. Fans can share this data instantly with the social share aspect of SlamTracker. Twitter conversations about players are also included within SlamTracker.

Because of the updated technology, U.S Open fans and the media have access to more data and analysis than ever before. SlamTracker includes historical player, match and tournament data. It incorporates real-time data that allows fans to gain a deeper insight into match dynamics.

Nicole Jeter West, senior director of Ticketing and Digital Strategy of USTA states, “Year after year, IBM’s technological expertise creates an incomparable mobile and digital experience for U.S Open tennis fans. We’re excited to partner with IBM again to push the boundaries of fan engagement and entertainment to bring the U.S Open to life and promote the game of tennis to fans across the globe.”
