It doesn’t matter if you are a high performance athlete looking for your next gold medal at the Olympics or your Sunday jogging session.

During exercise your muscles will go through physical stress and that is why you need the proper sportswear, explained Tim Brownstone CEO of KYMIRA, a technology company with a sports brand.
“With KYMIRA, you can increase your capacities of work,” said Brownstone.
To do it the formula is using infrared technology. KYMIRA is a company founded in 2013 at the University of Reading, in Berkshire, UK, that develops smart clothing using heat and energy from the human body, combined with infrared technology, to help people recover from sports and fitness activities and injuries faster.
Infrared light is something that grabbed Brownstone´s attention when he was 16-years old and read a research paper on how infrared light make plants grow quicker in space. This motivated him to learn more about this kind of energy and its effects on human beings.
Then he came to the University of Reading to get a degree in Animal Science and developed without restrictions with the help of the Science and Technology labs, his knowledge on infrared technology.
Together they have created and patented KYnergy technology. A method that uses the textile Celliant to recycle the body’s waste energy back for the benefit of the wearer, to enhance performance and accelerate recovery processes.
For example, all this assets are found in their leggings, their top selling product. Brownstone explained that while doing exercise a person can increase circulation and deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the muscles meaning that there will be more fuel for energy. “This can make you push harder in a session, and after have a fast recovery,” he said.
Although KYMIRA has products for specific sports such as cycling, rowing or running, Brownstone is very clear to say that their products adapt to all sports, and they are in constant development to produce new versatile gear, designs and colors. “We are much bigger than just a sports company,” he said.
But the world of sports is not the only one taking advantage of this scientific advancement. KYMIRA is starting to make strides in the medical world. Last November, they announced a partnership with Berkshire Physiotherapy to offer aid to their patients with treatment for sports related injuries, arthritis, those who suffered a stroke, a new alternative to help them heal their physical, muscular or neurological conditions. “Ultimately, We want to make an impact in someone elses life,” said Brownstone.
So far the feedback has been great. According to Brownstone, at Berkshire Physiotherapy, KYMIRA is helping patients to reduce their recovery time, and although there is no scientific evidence or any focus study, “it is a proof of validation of our products and a great endorsement,” he said.
This kind of support might help KYMIRA in their future endeavors. In the short term (3-5 years), their plan is to expand their products to more sports, introduce hats and jackets, and even penetrate the Premier League. They are also looking for investors to extend their reach to the U.S. and Europe.
