Inter Milan Partners With Moovit to Help Fans Navigate Public Transit

Serie A Italian soccer club Inter Milan announced a partnership with mobile public transportation app Moovit in an effort to encourage more fans to take public transit to games. Moovit’s mobile app will provide fans with real-time public transportation directions for navigating to and from Inter Milan’s home and away matches.

Fans using the app will be able to see estimated times of arrival and be alerted to possible diversions or changes when riding public transit. The app also includes guidance on how to access specific entrances within stadiums via public transportation, as well as routes detailing a user’s way home. Moovit is available in 44 different languages, which was a major draw to Inter given Milan is a major tourist-destination city.

“This agreement with Moovit, the world’s number one public transport app, will help our fans get around cities and allow them to arrive at all the stadiums Inter are playing at, whether in Italy or Europe,” said Alessandro Antonello, Inter Milan’s CEO, in a press release. “Users will then be able to identify the best route to get to the Meazza, the Inter Store and all the stadiums hosting the Nerazzurri [Inter Milan] in a quick and sustainable way, with public transport and sharing available to them.”

Moovit’s mobile app is free to download on both Android and iOS devices. The app has over 330 million users, with maps to more than 200 cities in Italy and over 2,700 cities globally, according to Inter’s press release.

Parking at sporting events is typically a costly and time consuming endeavor, and can be even more difficult in older cities with poorer road systems. Those cities, though, often have more established public transportation networks. The partnership between Inter and Moovit may especially help visiting tourists who are less familiar with Milan’s public transit, and Inter’s local fans when traveling to road games.
