The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that they will be one the first North American professional sports teams  to partner with ride-share app Uber (the Sacramento Kings had a unique partnership in 2014). The partnership will give Uber users in-app access to promotionally priced tickets for fans taking a ride to the Jaguars stadium for the remaining home games. The kick-off for the partnership will be this Thursday for the nationally televised game against the Tennessee Titans.

The app will work for any fans using the Uber app to find a ride to EverBand Field on Thursday, Nov. 19. Fans will get access to select the Jaguars paw print icon. After setting up where the fans want to be picked up, they will have the opportunity to select up to four lower level tickets at a promotional rate. The bill will be sent the to credit card on the users Uber account.

The Jaguar’s partnership with Uber comes after another promotional event that occurred earlier this season. Allen Robinson, a 2nd year wide receiver for Jacksonville, worked as an Uber driver on Tuesday, October 6, as part of a “Jaguars in the Community” event. Robinson picked up and dropped off Jaguars fans Downtown Jacksonville area for free. After the rides, Robinson signed autographs, took photos, and gave the fans two free tickets to an upcoming home game.

This relationship is strongly supported by both Uber and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Steve Ziff, Jaguars Vice President of Marketing & Digital Media, lauds the partnership as “an integrated solution to the seating and transportation needs of Jaguars fans.” The Jaguars Vice President believes the idea to be a “convenient ticket purchase and safe ride wrapped into one quick and easy transaction.” General Manager for Uber in Florida, Matt Gore, is “proud to work with the Jaguars organization on this innovative partnership to provide fans with an efficient, seamless game day experience.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been heavily involved in developing new technology for social media marketing. During the 2015 season, the Jaguars have developed a team-branded video game, the NFL’s first emoji keyboard, a social aggregator tool for fans at games, and a partnership with SnapStream to help share animated GIFs. Ziff considers the relationship with Uber to be “another example of how the Jaguars continue to be trendsetters in using innovative technology to enhance both the game day and brand experience for our fans.”
