After 2 months of hibernation and updating the platform, the staff over at LockerDome has revealed a much improved LockerDome. The dedicate process forced the staff to grow out their beards, work long, and sleep at the office. Now the staff has happily rolled out LockerDome Version 3.0.
Since the last update, these guys have grown to over 20M monthly unique visitors in the past 18 months! Now there is a major shift in content and direction for the St. Louis-based company with a focus on becoming THE data collection point on the internet and expanding beyond sports.
LockerDome’s revamped platform provides its millions of active users tools to create public collections of their favorite content, along with greatly enhanced capabilities to discover and engage with millions of like-minded people around the world. In addition to enhanced user capabilities, the new platform signifies an important evolution for the popular social media platform from just sports to a more holistic, interest-based platform with a more dynamic Pinterest like feel.
The content is built around “lockers,” or public collections of information that people assemble on subjects they’re interested in. It also enables what the company calls “unified conversations,” so users can see what everyone on the site is saying about a given topic. Then goes a step further and allows users to embed lockers on different sites!
“We made an aggressive bet on the evolution of social media from friends to interests.” – Gabe Lozano
The new features makes it seamless for people to find and consume content. After all, in the society we live in today, content is golden! The new about section of LockerDome provides a great visual representation of the value of each feature is but here are the descriptions:
- Lockers: Imagine if you could easily collaborate with others to bring together the best content, all in one place. Hello, Lockers. Lockers are public collections of things that interest you. Collect anything from classic sports video clips to keepsake news articles to your favorite music.
- Unified Conversations: Imagine if the conversation wasn’t limited to just your friends. With LockerDome 3.0 conversations about the same topic are merged into a single, unified conversation. Discover like-minded people and topics that you actually care about, all in one place.
- Embeddable Content: Imagine if you could easily populate your website with feeds of the best content from around the web. Within seconds you can now embed LockerDome content and activity feeds into your website; it’s as easy as copying and pasting.
All of these features work hand in hand with one another provide a deeper conversation around any piece of content. Conversations are converged and create a collision of content not only with your friends, but everyone else in the world on LockerDome. Users have the option of creating a space for the content to be shared and conversed with lockers, but also have the luxury posting about a specific topic and having that post link into one big conversation that everyone is having on Lockerdome.
“Anybody that has talked about or posted that content is automatically pulled together so you can see where they organized it and what they said in one place. One piece of content, one topic, one conversation” – Gabe Lozano
And now with the ability to embed these conversations into websites, the creative possibilities are endless. This is great for some of the A-List accounts using LockerDome for them to create unique contests and campaigns on LockerDome and embed them on their site. Right now, LockerDome’s media properties are embedding lockers, single pieces of content, or multiple pieces of content on their site. The Daily Caller has embedded a poll from LockerDome on their page, Mademen.com has posted a locker on their content pages about the best articles being talked about on LockerDome, and Operations Sports has embedded a contest on their site for an opportunity to win MLB The Show 14.
These are just a few examples of the new possibilities available. LockerDome really embraces the mantra “Collect Anything” and version 3.0 has taken this to the next level.
