Matt Barkley’s Heisman Trophy Campaign Includes a New App

College football season is upon us and as such, it’s time for the Heisman voters to start thinking about whose name they will put on their ballots come December.

In the past, certain Heisman candidates who may have played for less televised schools could have easily been forgotten had ESPN decided not to make known their 420 passing yard, 8 TD performance against the University of Maryland University College (it exists, I kid you not…http://www.umuc.edu/).  Fortunately for future small school, small conference stars, Matt Barkley is blazing a trail that will surely catch on and become vital ammo in the arsenal of all potential Heisman candidates.

The senior signal-caller from Newport Beach will have the help of a free, one-of-a-kind app that should thrust his Heisman campaign straight to the top in terms of interaction.  The app, called ‘Project7rojan’, will allow fans and voters to follow Barkley’s progress this season with sortable stats, highlights and biographic information right on their iPhone or Android device.  This is especially great news for all of you Trojan fans and Heisman voters that call the east coast home.  Now, you can safely fall asleep on the couch in the middle of the night knowing that the highlights from those late-night PAC-12 games will be right at your finger-tips when you wake up, wondering where the heck you are.

According to Jordan Moore, USC’s Director of Social Media, Barkley was not content sitting on the sidelines during the app’s creation.  He explains, “(Barkley) was a part of the development since Day One…He was very adamant about functionality and design.”  As it turns out, Barkley wasn’t the only one with input on the process.  Teammates T.J. McDonald and Khaled Holmes also participated in the action.  After all, the app will include highlights and stats from all of the Trojans’ award candidates, so they stand to benefit from the ground-breaking idea as well.

Now, if you happen to be an old-school USC fan who is reading this, growing concerned about your star QB’s apparent “tech nerdiness” and focus on the actual game of football, rest easy.  In the end, Barkley realizes that all of the effort and bells & whisles put into this app will be for not should he fail to produce on the field.

The campaign is on the field,” he said.
