MLB.com is debuting studio shows on Facebook Live that are geared toward an interactive audience just as spring training games are getting started.
On Friday, 12:25 LIVE with Alexa Datt was streamed for the first time as the time of the show catered to fans set to watch the 1:05 p.m. Grapefruit League game between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees on MLB.TV. The pregame show included interviews with MLB.com reporters and Datt answering questions from fans.
The show appeared on the MLB Facebook page, and Datt said the next show would be streamed at 12:25 p.m. Monday.
MLB.com at the start of the year also began a weekly Facebook Live show on the MLB Facebook page in which insiders Jim Duquette, Mike Petriello and host Tim McMaster discussed the offseason and took questions from the Facebook audience.
The MLB Facebook page has been filled with live content during the spring thus far, including the first two innings of the Boston Red Sox’s exhibition game Thursday. MLB has gone live with commissioner Rob Manfred’s press conference, Atlanta Braves pitcher Bartolo Colon doing drills on the “Bartolo Cam” and a commercial shoot with Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton.
