MLB.TV Premium Subscribers Can Use Alexa Skill To Listen To Baseball Games This Season

MLB.TV Premium subscribers will have access to listen to live MLB games without blackout restrictions using the new MLB skill on the Amazon Echo platform starting opening day, MLB Advanced Media announced Tuesday.

With the Alexa intelligent personal assistant, a subscriber can use the voice-activated skill to say, “Alexa, open MLB” in order to start listening.

Previously, the skill had been enabled during the MLB postseason so that users could easily tell an Echo to access a live game radio broadcast. All that needed to be said was phrases like “Alexa, ask MLB to play the Cubs” or “Alexa, tell MLB I want to listen to the Dodgers.”

MLB.TV costs $112.99 for a yearly subscription, and it will come with a new add-on feature this season. The Follow Your Team add-on is coming for $10, enabling subscribers to watch a selected out-of-market team’s live local telecasts.
