Wearable technology is finally hitting MLB teams with Motus Global’s launch of a single wearable system, motusBASEBALL. Both professional and nonprofessional baseball players will be able to analyze pitching and hitting with the latest system. With the popularity of wearable sensors recently, Motus Global aimed to advance their biomechanics services for MLB teams with a powerful sport sensor that improves players’ mechanics and monitors workloads on their joints.
The motusBASEBALL system is one device that works for motusTHROW and motusBATTING. The system includes a single upgraded Motus sensor, a fitted compression sleeve, a sensor clip, and free access to the motusTHROW and motusBATTING mobile applications.

Motus Global intends for the system to be more advanced and user-friendly in its sport specific applications. motusTHROW utilizes the upgraded Motus sensor from the previous Motus product, mThrow, and a fitted compression sleeve to analyze throwing mechanics during catch, long toss, bullpens, and games. The mobile application can report on many different aspects of a player such as workloads, bullpen reports, throw limits, and projected throw limits to give the coach and the player a full look at the usage of the arm in practice and a game. And perhaps most importantly, the system aims to prevent injuries and optimize performance by monitoring workloads on the body.
“motusBASEBALL is a one-of-a-kind wearable that meets the needs of every baseball player. The ability to use the sensor for both batting and throwing adds value to anyone from little league to the majors. You can now get feedback on my fielding and throwing, and then turn around and use the Motus sensor to keep tabs on my swings,” says Ben Hansen, CTO at Motus.
motusBATTING will also include the upgraded Motus sensor with a clip for your batting glove to analyze hitting mechanics during cage work, batting practice, and games. The mobile application focuses on improving performance in all nine hitting zones, while also providing interactive training modes to improve swing mechanics.
Motus Global also created a multi-sensor training system that includes a compression shirt, batting gloves, and cleats. The five wireless 6-axis motion sensors create a summary of biomechanical data for coaches and players to utilize.
Motus Global hopes that the motusBASEBALL system can be used daily and in conjunction with the recently released MotusPro system and the MotusPro labs around the country. By combining the systems, nonprofessional players will be able to receive the same training experience as the 27 MLB teams that currently train with Motus Global.
The motusBASEBALL system will retail for $150 and come with access to both motusBATTING and motusTHROW apps for free.
