Today, the National Basketball Association and Cisco announced an extension to the marketing partnership they began in 2007. Cisco will continue to be the Official Technology Partner of the NBA, WNBA, NBA D-League, and USA Basketball.
Cisco’s infrastructure has helped the league grow tremendously by bringing live data and video from the basketball court to fans all over the world. The extension to the partnership will also feature a committee of executives from both the NBA and Cisco to enhance the courtside connectivity around the NBA.
Cisco has already made a commitment to improving the IT infrastructure in Brazil, and will extend the partnership to the 2014 NBA Global Games in Rio that are currently ongoing. Cisco will also use its state-of-the-art video calibration system to help NBA players and media members collaborate to provide more personal interviews for fans.
“Today’s partnership extension reflects our mutual and ongoing commitment to bringing innovation to the NBA and the game of basketball through the Internet of Everything,” said Blair Christie, Cisco Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
“Together we are enabling new fan experiences and, with our new research and development initiative, will see the amazing things that can happen when we connect the unconnected. We also look forward to extending our relationship into Brazil and impacting that country in new ways by bringing their sport and fan experiences to a new level.”
Cisco will also continue its support of the NBA All-Star Game, where they will introduce new technology integrations, and will participate at the annual NBA All-Star Technology Summit.
