For most die-hard NBA fans, NBA LEAGUE PASS is must-have item as the regular season begins Tuesday night. Available on television, computers, tablets and mobile devices, it provides live out-of-market games.
For this season, NBA Digital has installed new cameras in each arena dedicated to capturing tighter shots better suited for those viewing the games on mobile phones and tablets, resulting in “NBA Mobile View.” Each game will have a specific producer for the zoomed-in shots.
When fans choose a game through NBA LEAGUE PASS, NBA Mobile View will show as an additional streaming option. The “Home” and “Away” viewing options will also remain for the games.

According to Recode, the league tested out a zoomed-in approach for video highlights last year and discovered that viewers preferred the tighter-shot on mobile devices.
“When you shrink it down [for] a mobile device, you can usually make out which team has the ball, but it is sometimes hard to see which player,” NBA Senior VP Melissa Rosenthal Brenner told Recode.
During the early use of NBA Mobile View, the NBA and Turner Sports will be watching to see whether users spend more time using the new mobile feature or the traditional broadcast feeds.
