New Fantasy Sports App “MyGuy” Designed for In-Game Engagement

Chris Stephenson, the creator of Viggle, an app that allows viewers to check into their favorite TV shows, announced an innovative fantasy-sports app called “MyGuy.”

MyGuy is a free app designed to engage fans in a variety of sporting events. They are able to check in and play along, meaning fans can select players to help them earn points on each play. Fans can also switch out their players throughout the game. Using MyGuy, fans have to remain focused throughout the entire game to reach their full potential of point earnings.

Chris Stephenson, President and COO of Viggle, told the NY Post:

“It is a fantasy app, but there’s one big difference. With fantasy football you have to draft the players and wait through the entire season. This is different because you can pick the player right there and then and that player is getting them points on every play. It’s a form of fantasy football but it is instantaneous. It’s fantasy sports meets instant gratification.”

During the Giants-Cowboys game, MyGuy came to life. Fans were able to interact with other fans and compare their scores to others. Trash talking gets elevated to a whole new level with MyGuy. Not only can they trash talk, compare scores, but they can also win real-life prizes such as an IPod Shuffle or subscriptions to Hulu Plus.

The beta test took place during the NBA playoffs which helped them gain understanding as to how sports fans were going to respond to MyGuy. Stephenson said, “We started with the basketball version of this during the playoffs. It was really our test concept and it went really well. We then developed a football version for College and the NFL. We have an MLB product coming in October for the playoffs and will re-up with the NBA. By January we’ll have all three sports.”

MyGuy is available for free in the Apple App Store, Android Marketplace and on Google Play.
