New Soccer App Yakatak Allows Fans To Instantly Talk Trash With Their Biggest Rivals

With newly-launched app Yakatak, soccer enthusiasts worldwide now have the opportunity to immediately chime in to the conversation with their friends.

Fans can instantly upload selfie video reactions to anything happening on the pitch while overlaying their content with special emojis, stickers and slogans before sharing within Yakatak or across social media and different chat apps.

Additionally, fans can also include photos and other graphics to scores, lineups and live matches as they talk trash with their friends. Through the use of “Rival Alerts,” Yakatak users receive notifications when their friends’ teams are losing, prompting them to create video reactions to further the soccer conversation.

The central soccer app becomes a digital water cooler as fans stay current on their favorite clubs through match push notifications and can share commentary among their friends.

“We know football is just as much about the culture and the atmosphere as it is the goals and that’s what prompted us to create Yakatak,” Founder and Chief Executive Officer Simon Davies said in a statement. “With the advancements in technology and social media, fans are now in the unique position to be able to become the pundits themselves — we see it every single game; newsfeed clogged with individuals thinking they know better than anyone else and constantly questioning the ref’s decision or the manager’s team lineup. This is what inspired us to create Yakatak — one tool for fans to capture their reaction at the moments that matter the most!”

Added soccer legend and Yakatak consultant Ian Wright in a statement: “Football is all about the fans. They’re vital at every level, from buying tickets and showing support at games, to investing in TV licenses and sitting in front of the TV at home. Their emotional and financial commitment to their clubs, players and managers is the reason football is the biggest business in the world. Remember (Luis) Suarez’s handball that saved Uruguay? (Zinedine) Zidane’s head butt against Italy in the 2006 World Cup final?

“(David) Beckham’s goal against Greece in 2001? Imagine being able to capture the reactions of you and your mates at these very moments. That’s why we created Yakatak. Yakatak is at the heart of fan culture and provides a platform for fans to share the moments that matter.”

In Yakatak, there is also a scores feed to show users live scores along with recaps from some of the more important matches of the week. A “Fixtures” tab displays upcoming matches while “News Feed” is populated with industry updates and soccer insights, too. Yakatak is available for free on Android and iOS.
