Prior to its Fiesta Bowl matchup against Clemson on Saturday, Ohio State kept the mood fairly loose at Media Day as players experimented with Snapchat Spectacles via the team account.
The newly-released piece of hardware wirelessly sends 10-second video clips and images to a users’ accounts when they wear the glasses.

Sophomore linebacker Jerome Baker, junior linebacker Chris Worley and sophomore safety Malik Hooker gave Buckeye fans an inside look at what Media Day entails through the use of Spectacles. Viewers got a feel for how many media members are inside the room, its setup, a couple close-up shots of the Fiesta Bowl Trophy and a quick interview between Worley and Baker.
Worley also gave Hooker a few pointers about the piece of hardware as he first adorned the eyeglasses Thursday.
“So they record me or you?” Hooker asked Worley in a confused state.
“Alright, so now this conversation just went global,” a reporter can be heard saying before an interview with what looks to be Hooker as he wore the Spectacles.
Last night, the Buckeyes capped off the inside access on Snapchat by bringing fans along to some cornhole action as well.
During the past six weeks, a number of other professional and college teams — like the Minnesota Wild, Houston Texans, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Vikings, Sacramento Kings and Manchester City — have taken advantage of the new product following its launch in mid-November. Like Ohio State’s Hooker, Golden State Warriors center JaVale McGee also recently wore the eyeglasses during a post-game press conference two weeks ago to offer fans a new perspective that they traditionally have never been able to witness.
