Philadelphia Eagles Early Favorite In Super ‘Social’ Bowl

The Eagles launched a new team app which makes it easier for fans to have real-time stats, news and updates, press conferences, and podcasts.

Much like the way their quarterback, Michael Vick, leads Philadelphia’s offense in a charge down the gridiron, the Eagles are moving full steam ahead in the social media world as well.

Just prior to the start of pre-season training camp, the Eagles announced a new partnership with “The Angry Birds—yes, those same angry birds, created by Rovio, who are one of the most downloaded apps of all time and have over 20 million Facebook followers. Complete with Head Coach Andy Reid welcoming the birds to the squad in an online cartoon press conference, the Angry Birds have since boarded the bus to Lehigh University for training camp, and pumped up fans by making a real-life appearance at the Eagles pep-rally in Love Park. Using a giant sling shot, players and fans brought their favorite app to life, launching the birds (stuffed animal birds, no need to upset PETA) across the park, building excitement for the upcoming season and using a rare and creative type of engagement that combined a digital platform with in-person reality.

Beyond adding animated foul to their social media arsenal, the Eagles also launched a new team app for smartphones.  The free app, developed by Yinzcam Inc, makes it easier for fans to have real-time stats,  news and updates, press conferences, and podcasts delivered directly to their phone. Fans attending home games at the Linc can take advantage of the app’s map of the stadium and concession stand finder.

For Eagles fans, their social media experience really has “gone to the birds”—and they hope a Superbowl, as well.
