PlaySight Cameras Will Give a Youth Sports Campus a Pro Tech Overhaul

The technological divide between youth and elite sports continues to narrow. Now, the same AI-powered video platform that provides broadcast footage of Belgian pro basketball and practice coverage of major NCAA programs is being installed on a sprawling youth athletic campus. The PlaySight system will record every athletic moment across the LakePoint Sporting Community.

About a 45-minute drive north of Atlanta,
LakePoint has eight full-sized baseball diamonds, three fields big enough for soccer (and nine more under construction), and 170,000 square feet of indoor space, including 12 hardwood courts for basketball (which can be converted to 24 volleyball courts). PlaySight will install more than 100 cameras and provide the tech platform for players, parents, coaches, scouts, and fans to watch live streams of all competitions, access performance analytics, and compile highlight reels. LakePoint will be PlaySight’s first SmartCampus project.

PlaySight will fuel LakePoint’s relationship with the Prep Baseball Report, helping prospects gain additional exposure with pro scouts and college recruiters. On the other end of the spectrum, every youth athlete will be able to save a memory of his or her shining moments—that clutch base hit, that three pointer, that ace.

No longer will parents need to watch games through their viewfinders, hoping to capture a child’s successes to share with grandparents. The cameras will always be rolling. The one downside? Perhaps this might undermine future stories of how difficult that shot really was and how far that homer actually went.

“By fully integrating PlaySight’s sports technology platform throughout the LakePoint campus, we will establish ourselves as the leader in connecting high-performance data analytics and video content aggregation with athletes, while enhancing the LakePoint experience and inviting family, friends, coaches, and scouts to enjoy unprecedented access from wherever they are in the world,” Mark M. O’Brien, president and CEO of LakePoint, said in a statement.

PlaySight already collaborates with the NBA’s Warriors, Hawks, Celtics, and reigning champion Raptors, MLB’s Cardinals and Marlins, NCAA Division I powerhouses Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, and the USTA’s National Campus.
