Just months after SeatGeek became the official ticketing partner of Major League Soccer, the company has announced a partnership with the Portland Timbers. Through SeatGeek’s new SeatGeek Open platform, which allows tickets to be sold directly within other apps and websites, the Timbers will be able to sell match tickets on Timbers.com, SeatGeek and any other app or site of the club’s choice, allowing fans to buy tickets directly from the club through a variety of platforms.
“We are thrilled to be entering into this innovative partnership with SeatGeak,” Mike Golub, the president of business for the Timbers, said in a press release. “Their industry-leading technology, mobile expertise and open ticketing ecosystem will make the entire ticketing experience easier and more efficient for our fans.”

Additionally, this SeatGeek platform is introducing a resale verification feature for third parties interested in selling tickets in an effort to eliminate fraud. And with Portland selling out every home game since entering the league in 2011, fans should be excited to have a more reliable way to purchase resale tickets which are in high demand in the Pacific Northwest market.
“The Timbers have demonstrated a relentless focus on fans. We will further the fan experience by providing mobile-first features that let users buy, sell, and transfer tickets,” SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza said in a statement. “Portland is among the growing number of teams that recognize the importance of an open system.”
