EA Sports added another powerful soccer team to their ranks today, as they announced a partnership with Real Madrid C.F. The three-year agreement will see EA Sports become the exclusive video game provider for the club, and Real Madrid players will have more interaction than ever with the FIFA series of games.

As a result, there will be a FIFA 16 tournament amongst the Real Madrid players, and fourteen of the most popular players on Madrid had their heads 3D scanned so that their features are more realistic in gameplay. The video below shows players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema becoming digitalized.

The partnership does not look to be one of competition, so that FIFA can push Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer out of the marketplace, but more so that FIFA can push their game to further realism as they look towards next year’s release.

Strangely, this sort of agreement happens only in the world of soccer. EA Sports has already signed on Real Madrid rivals F.C. Barcelona and English side Liverpool F.C.

FIFA is the world’s best-selling video game franchise, so it makes sense that EA Sports is able to spend a little bit more money and attention to it than with game franchises like Madden NFL and NHL.

So, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid on board with FIFA, the digital El Clásico is about to become more realistic and intense than ever.
