Reely, a California-based startup that uses artificial intelligence to create automated sports highlights, will participate in Sportradar’s Acceleradar program. The parties will use data, artificial intelligence and deep learning to enrich Reely’s signature live highlight clips, according to an announcement.
“We cannot overstate the importance of this partnership with Sportradar. Their data feeds will immediately improve our video tagging and accelerate our development with the creation of robust ML training sets to help us capture richer and more nuanced events,” Cullen Gallagher, Reely’s CEO, said in the announcement.
Reely will get access to the data without limits for one year through the Acceleradar program. The data could help Reely pursue more partnerships with pro and collegiate teams. Reely recently inked deals with the Kansas Jayhawks, St. Louis Blues, and Major League Lacrosse.
“Sportradar is seeking out innovative companies to bring into our Acceleradar program and we feel REELY is a perfect candidate,” Javier E. Altamirano, Sportradar’s director of innovation, said in the announcement. “We understand firsthand the value that AI and machine learning can bring to increasing efficiency in content creation and look forward to seeing how our data will enhance REELY’s exciting product offering.”
SportTechie Takeaway:
For Reely, the combination of additional data and artificial intelligence could prove to be extremely powerful as a business tool as Reely looks to expand highlight automation throughout the sports landscape. As mentioned above, Reely has already signed partnership deals with a number of collegiate and professional sports teams and leagues, and the data access from Acceleradar is likely to enhance Reely’s product and make the company more attractive to potential sports partners.
Acceleradar is not the first accelerator-type program Reely has participated in. Stadia Ventures invested in Reely last year and provided a hub for product innovation.
