Several sports teams across the country struggle to find a platform that allows for a comprehensive hub of team information and content for quick and easy viewing. However, a new app has come into play that allows for teams to have instant access to do just that and more.
Sprio is an app that allows for team material such as scoring statistics, game schedules, contact information and post-game reports to be found in one place. And, it’s just a click away from easily sharing with other coaches, players, and fans. Friends and family can follow the team of their choice and receive updates. Additionally, there is a way to track all the teams you’ve been with and the games you’ve played throughout your life, as well as, a simple messaging system that team members can use to communicate with each other.
Microsoft Vets, John Pollard, Shree Madhavapeddi, and Ramesh Vyaghrapuri are the founders of the company Elemental Foundry, who have designed Sprio. They are no rookies when it comes to social media and technological advancements. Pollard and Madhavapeddi also founded Jott in 2006 and sold it to Nuance Communications three years later. Vyaghrapuri is a former Facebook employee and rewrote the social network’s chat engine. He also worked on Microsoft Messenger with Madhavapeddi while at Microsoft.
Essentially, they came up with the idea of Sprio to be used for any type and size of an organized sports team looking to find a social media platform that adds a personalized touch. There is even a “Team Feed” to keep an ongoing central place used to view any current information. “Home Feed” is the area for anyone that wants to follow more than one team.
In a recent interview, Pollard said he viewed Sprio to be a “private Facebook for teams.” Although, the concept is still the same, it differs greatly from Facebook in the sense that the app allows for a range of access privileges to individual users and doesn’t collect personal information for a Facebook profile or group page. It is also all private, which helps to prevent any potential wrongdoings with privacy laws and regulations through Facebook.
Sprio is currently being tested by a variety of teams. However, it already has a waiting list on the website for any teams that may be interested in trying it out for themselves. It has the potential to collaborate a huge technological advancement with enabling sports teams, fans, and coaches to form an online space to communicate and progress.
In the future, this could make a lot of coaches and family members’ lives a lot more connected to the players and allow for them to stay up-to date and knowledgeable about their team. The ultimate goal of the app is to have each sports team be able to communicate, manage and share content easily and effortlessly. If it can successfully accomplish that goal, Sprio is something that could become very popular in the future.
