ATLANTA, February 14, 2017— Down. Set. Hack. In one month, tech enterprise RIISE Ventures will partner with SXSW 2017 in the first-ever Sports Tech Hackathon at the conference and festival.
The event will feature hackers, creatives, sports techies and designers in pursuit of innovative solutions for the sports tech industry over the course of 24 hours. The SXSW SportsTech Hackathon, beginning on March 9th – 10th, will kick off the ten-day conference and festival held in Austin, Texas concluding on March 19th.
“We initiated our relationship with SXSW one year ago, and we’re excited to bring this first-of-a-kind experience to Austin. This is one of several ways we aim to promote opportunities and cultivate ideas for the sports tech ecosystem,” says M. Cole Jones, Managing Partner of RIISE Ventures.
Through the hackathon, participating companies will have the opportunity to receive new ideas to their challenges, rapidly problem solved over a concentrated period of time. Featured areas include Wearables, AR/VR, Fitness/Performance, Smart Cities, Digital/Media, IoT, E-Sports/Fantasy, Sports Equipment, Sports Venue and Payment/Ticketing. Several challenges will be presented by companies like Amazon from among these areas for participants to solve.
RIISE Ventures has teamed up with Atlanta based company, covello, to produce the event and incorporate their comprehensive signature service called finishUp. This service includes pre and post-hack activities, such as exploring a winning team’s idea to a fully functioning prototype to showcase at upcoming conferences or tradeshows–a huge value add to companies.
