Sacramento Kings Going Big With A Major Tech First For The NBA

Just as numerous collegiate and professional teams have upgraded to huge, state-of-the-art scoreboards in the past few years, they now are going to be playing catch up once again.

The Sacramento Kings announced today that they will install the NBA’s first-ever in-stadium 4K Ultra HD video board inside Golden 1 Center, their new high-tech arena opening this fall.

This comes on the heels of the team unveiling a full-blown technology report last week for their new high-tech arena as well as having their fans get in on the fun with creating the new court the team will play on.

This new scoreboard will be a site to see when it goes live. It will total over 6,100 square feet and will feature the largest screens in the NBA. This will make it over seven times larger than their current scoreboard at the Sleep Train Arena where the Kings play their home games now.

There will be a four-screen display that will include two sideline screens that will utilize the latest LED technology in totaling over 32 million pixels. Fans will have a direct view from anywhere in the arena with replays in 4K ultra HD – four times 1080 HD resolution.

The board will span over 84 feet, which will almost encompass the entire court baseline to baseline. The Kings will partner with Panasonic for this incredible in-stadium screen and the main screens will be over 44 feet wide and over 24 feet tall.

“We are thrilled to be the official display technologies partner of the Sacramento Kings,” said Jim Doyle, President, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company. “There are endless possibilities to help enhance the guest experience throughout the arena and we look forward to delivering the most cutting-edge technology to impress and amaze all who enter Golden 1 Center.”

This announcement has been one of many for the Sacramento Kings and new owner Vivek Ranadivé. While the on-court transformation continues to be a work in progress, there is no doubt that this arena will be one of the most technologically advanced facilities in the NBA and throughout the world.

“Our partnership with Panasonic will revolutionize how fans consume the game – giving them an unmatched viewing experience from the moment they walk into Golden 1 Center,” said Ranadivé. “We are proud to deliver the world’s latest technology and provide a transformative experience to the best fans in the NBA.”

With the 2016-17 NBA season still a little over nine months away, it is unlikely this will be the final technology related announcement the Kings will make before the ball is tipped at the Golden 1 Center this fall.
