SeatGeek, Sporting Kansas City Partner To Launch Pano Immersive Venue Viewing Experience

When buying tickets to a sporting event, it is usually difficult to gauge just how good the seats you’re purchasing are. Will your view be blocked? Just how high up is the 300-level? It can be hard to tell from the bird’s-eye view the basic sketch of a stadium.

SeatGeek is launching a new ticket-buying tool, called Pano, to give fans a glimpse at the view from their seats before purchase.

Pano’s first partnership is with the MLS team Sporting Kansas City. Now, SKC fans can click different seats in a 3D, interactive map of the stadium and use their mouse to see the 360-degree view from that seat. Users are able to click different seats within the stadium to see the view from different spots around the field before purchasing a ticket.

The technology behind Pano was built using hundreds of photos of SKC’s field at Children’s Mercy Park from different viewpoints. The creators then used those images to create a digital model of the venue.

“We’re delighted with the Pano technology SeatGeek has provided us at Sporting Kansas City for 2017 and beyond,”  Gregg Allen, the Vice President of Ticket Sales and Service for SKC, said in a statement. “First-time buyers will undoubtedly enjoy this very fan-centric element of the buying process, and help validate their purchase decision before attending the match.”

SeatGeek plans to release additional Pano venues in the near future, according to the company.
