We’re living in the (cable) cord-cutting era, and the viewing habits of sports fans are constantly changing, leaving networks and providers scrambling to stay out in front. This has led to digital strategies that have changed the way sports networks produce their studio shows, as well as increased “digital and internet TV friendly” sports broadcasting options. Another major change: Apple TV, one of the most popular streaming devices, announced earlier this month the launch of Sling TV on their fourth-generation platform.Sports fans will be excited to learn that Sling TV offers a wide range of viewing options in the ESPN family of networks. ESPN has often been viewed as a white whale of sorts that could shift the paradigm in a la carte television, but it has never ventured out on its own. ESPN is included in the Sling Orange service, though — no small offering as trial packages of Sling TV coincide with the start of the college and NFL seasons. Sling TV also has the option to add Extras such as HBO, which will debut Bill Simmons’ new show, “Any Given Wednesday,” among other offerings, and provides a wealth of other original sports content sports enthusiasts will love. For entertainment beyond sports, Sling TV also offers many non-sports favorites, including Comedy Central, MTV and VH1. See the full list of channels here.
