SPEERIT Connects Running Community Through App

When it comes to working out, one of the most difficult things to do is find the motivation to get up and go to the gym. One way to combat this is to find a good workout partner or group.

Most of the time you go with a family member or a best friend, but what happens when you go to a new place and you don’t have those people?

A new app, SPEERIT, is coming to you with a solution. It was launched Tuesday in time for the New York Marathon pre-period as a private beta on iOS and Android and will invite those who request access to connect with other runners in their location of choice.

“I believe sports and running in general should be more social, it is too individualized,” SPEERIT CEO and co-founder Gregory Zammit said in an statement. “We generate power when we get together and it more fun.”

SPEERIT will put everyone into a platform where users can share places to run, the best clubs and brands to try, and even what physician you should see for injuries or rehab.

The app will match you with other runners based on location, level and schedule using a smart algorithm the company built.

The app can be connected to running apps or GPS watches to analyze your running pattern, such as running location, the time of day you like to run, your speed, distance and overall goal. It will then connect you with other runners with similar habits via the algorithm. Once connected, you can engage via chat, invite others and then go for a run. You can also post future runs or training programs that users can connect with in advance.

SPEERIT can be used as a resource for women who do not feel comfortable running by themselves and allows you to enter your preferred gender if you have one.

The app is available to users who request it at speerit.co. The company will later release an upgraded version of the app as an open beta based on feedback from the private beta testing.
