Sportego is a global fantasy sports development platform currently working with the SSE Airtricity League, West Bromwich Albion, Chesterfield FC and Bury FC following its launch in the UK this August. Originating from Kilkenny, a medieval town in the South-east of Ireland more commonly associated with handmade arts and crafts and comedy festivals, Sportego is emerging as a real leader in the Fantasy Football market.
Focused on harnessing the brand appeal that Fantasy football brings to leagues, Sportego has developed a simple pick 5 game that is aimed at clubs, and their individual fixtures.
Trevor Keane, Managing Director of Sportego said, “Originally Fantasy Football was about creating awareness of players you never heard of and watching teams you never supported before, however we wanted to create a business that would help clubs to strengthen engagement and interaction with their fans. Sportego does this!”.
The products offered by Sportego provide an easy to play game which involves fans picking the 5 players they reckon will have the biggest impact on a match day, all built around a clubs fixtures which helps to re-enforces the brand awareness.
Keane continued, “Just ask West Bromwich Albion. We have been working with the club since September 2015 and have hundreds of fans logging on each week to their branded app with each fan spending over 6 ½ minutes per week engaged with the game.
The SSE Airtricity League in Ireland is one of the few non-teams on the Sportego books, with 1 in 10 that attended a league game downloading the app. The numbers are ever stronger for the SSE Airtricity League with over 9 minutes per fan spent on the game each week and 33% of those coming from social media channels.
Keane said, “The appeal among football clubs to increase brand interaction by harnessing gamification is one that is set to grow. Sportego’s white label applications can help any club and league to enhance consumer participation and heighten brand awareness, while also enabling data capture and increasing revenue potential”.
Sportego also operates in the B2C market through its FanFeud.co.uk product, is the first app developer globally to offer cash based fantasy football on individual Premier League games.
