Lisbon-based sports club Benfica has partnered with KickUP Sports Innovation to launch a European sports accelerator. The program aims to “scout, accelerate and invest” in early stage sports business startups that focus on Sports Performance and Lifestyle Activity, Fan Engagement and Entertainment and Facility Management and Operations.
Twenty companies are chosen to come to Lisbon for the April 7 bootcamp, and there will be a selection days for the 10 businesses that are picked to take part in the 12-week full acceleration program. The deadline to apply is March 12.

The program invests €10,000 in the companies up front and also provides them with office spaces and access to a network of sports business founders, experts and investors.
The program will take place at Estadio da Luz, Benfica’s stadium in Lisbon, where workspace will be provided.
