A strategic merging of three companies is looking to improve performance data for the clubs and media partners of Serie A TIM, the highest tier of Italian football.
STATS LLC is a worldwide sport technology, data and content company, headquartered in Chicago. Prozone, a leader in sports performance analysis, was purchased by STATS in 2015. The European Broadcast Development (EBD) company provides sport services and audio visual content production. Together, STATS LLC, Prozone and EBD will hope to give Italian football fans a better experience.
The enhanced data graphics will include team and player possession, player run comparisons and player heat maps. Broadcasters and media partners of the football league can expect access to dynamic in-game presentations and statistics, as well as tools for coaching through SportVU player tracking technology.
“SportVU and EBD will enhance the viewing experience for fans at Serie A TIM,” stated Federico Winer, Director of Buisness Development at STATS, in a press release. “Innovative graphics, 3D simulations, player perspective visuals, 360 degree views and side-by-side comparisons are ready-made for broadcast graphics and match trackers for web and mobile.”
SportVU’s tracking technology collects player and ball data in real-time. Data is then used as a broadcast graphic enrichment tool by EBD. This will give sponsors a unique way to develop interactive advertisements.
Antoine David, Prozone’s General Manager for Southern Europe explains, “Prozone’s advanced solutions will enable Serie A TIM teams to access a wealth of performance data. Delivering advanced performance information, the data provided by our solutions will support a more objective approach to team and player analysis, giving coaches and sports scientists the ability to monitor all aspects of team and player performance.”
Prozone and EBD also plan on creating specialized reports based on the need of each club. The reports will highlight key physical trends from Serie A TIM to support detailed longitudinal analysis. EBD will store all the information on their central database.
“EBD has teamed with STATS in order to establish a powerful strategic partnership. Working together, our mission is to create innovative viewing and analysis experiences for Serie A TIM across a range of digital platforms,” Matteo Brambilla, Strategy and News Business Director for EBD, said. “EBD looks forward to delivering unique media services to drive, through this partnership, the development of broadcast experiences in the Italian football production. Thanks to these services, Lega Seria A elevates to the top European’s League level of technology and sport related services for the production and data analysis.”
