During the two-month grind that is the NBA Playoffs, for the few players remaining, it has become standard practice to reduce or eliminate entirely their social media usage. A move first publicly popularized by LeBron James — who has invoked “Zero Dark Thirty-23″ since 2012, with three championships to show for it — the practice has been appropriated accordingly by stars like Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who told ESPN that he, too, would be removing his social media apps from his phone for this year’s playoffs.

But, athletes, like the rest of us, are human too. And people cave. In Curry’s case, this time, he did so to promote his wife Ayesha’s meal-kit delivery service, Homemade, through an Instagram live stream in which Chef Curry himself did the cooking.

The 38-minute stream hit a peak viewership of about 48,000, where he made steak and potatoes and bantered heavily with his wife of nearly six years. As customary on live videos, Curry was the recipient of plenty of troll comments, but none stood out quite like the heckles lobbed by New Orleans Pelicans’ Center Anthony Davis.

“Man you can’t cook lol,” Davis commented.

“Mr. Curry can you teach me. I’m your biggest fan,” he added sarcastically.

Warriors teammate Ian Clark joined in on the action as well, commenting: “Go ahead and make ya boy one of those famous pre game smoothies!”

Curry also attempted to channel his inner “salt bae” intermittently throughout, tossing spices onto his dishes with the same elbow motion as his patented jumper.
