MAY 24, 2016, GREENVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA – Today, the comprehensive student-athlete development platform formerly known as Game Theory Group and employed by over 29,000 student-athletes and 400 advisors at more than 40 leading college athletic departments, has announced their rebranding as Game Plan including a new brand identity and website (http://www.wearegameplan.com).
Signaling a step forward in their mission to help student-athletes become the people they aspire to be, the startup today revealed a new brand centered on their platform, including a re-designed logo, a clarification of their mission, a fully-responsive website, a student-athlete development blog and social properties. In addition to this, website visitors will also find a growing dedication to thought leadership content including industry reports, blog posts, and case studies aimed at arming college athletic departments with best practices are student-athlete development.
“The evolution of our brand identity highlights Game Plan as a proven, progressive, technology company and fits with our vision of being a thought leader in the industry by providing an all-in-one student athlete development platform,” said Vin McCaffrey, Founder and CEO of Game Plan. “Game Plan is allowing universities to provide students with academic and career-planning resources, enabling advisors to track performance and participation, and connecting employers to graduates.”
An improved version of the cloud-based web platform will officially launch June 1, 2016, and will help colleges manage their initiatives and student activities in a more efficient way. Through Game Plan, athletic staff and student-athletes can complete personality and interest assessments, eLearning lessons related to topics like time management, major selection, resume building and career preparation as well as search employers and apply for job opportunities.
“The goal of Game Plan is to provide student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed in an easy, accessible way that doesn’t add any additional strain to an athlete’s’ already demanding schedule,” added McCaffrey.
Founded in 2008 by former Lehigh basketball player Vin McCaffrey, Game Theory Group was created to address the challenges that student-athletes and college athletic departments face. While academic and career services, life skills coordinators, development staff and coaches work hard to provide student-athletes with a great college experience and prepare them for life after sport, Game Theory Group has developed the fundamental building blocks to deliver a successful student-athlete development process that allows for better transitions to the real-world.
Since then, the focus of colleges and universities providing superior student-athlete experiences has intensified. As the demand to prepare student-athletes to be market-ready graduates has also increased, athletic departments are now putting an emphasis on placing student-athletes in jobs and ensuring student-athletes have a successful transition into their professional career.
Coming up at the 5th annual N4A (National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics) conference taking place in Dallas, Texas, from June 9-17, Game Plan will be a main sponsor and will be posting thoughts and strategies around the topics and challenges discussed at the conference on Twitter and Facebook. In July, Game Plan will be hosting their first webinar on the state of student-athlete development and best practices being employed by top athletic departments.
