TeamSnap Partners With FlipGive to Tackle Cost of Youth Sports

Youth sports team management platform TeamSnap has announced a partnership with funding app FlipGive aimed at helping teams raise money, and making sports participation more affordable.

TeamSnap already has a user base of more than 20 million athletes, parents, coaches, and staff. Its app helps coordinate and communicate team activities. The platform will now integrate the FlipGive app, which offers cash back on purchases from more than 700 major brands, spanning services from athletic apparel and equipment to travel sites and gas stations.

“The high and growing costs associated with youth sports are a major stress point for families. We are seeing that more and more families are forced to opt their children out of sports altogether,” said TeamSnap co-founder and CEO Dave DuPont in a press release. “FlipGive offers an innovative and easy way for TeamSnap users to raise funds for teams and athletes simply by leveraging their everyday purchases.”

Since launching its website in early 2009, FlipGive has helped teams raise more than $20 million. The company also works with other organizations promoting youth sports, including Stack Sports and NBC’s SportsEngine.

According to Mark Bachman, FlipGive co-founder and CEO, the goal now is to raise $100 million over the next five years. Partnering with TeamSnap may significantly boost that objective, since raising just $5 per TeamSnap user would be enough.
