Tennis Australia Partners With Grabyo to Bolster Video Content in 2019

Social video management platform Grabyo has partnered with Tennis Australia to enhance production and global distribution of video content at the 2019 Australian Open, as well as all remaining Tennis Australia events in 2019. The Australian Open takes place in Melbourne Jan. 14-27.

Tennis Australia will use Grabyo’s cloud technology to create, edit, and distribute real-time video clips during all 2019 TA events, according to Grabyo. The company’s platform will enable Tennis Australia to create unique live streamed one-hour daily shows for fans to consume on mobile, social, and OTT platforms across the world. Athletes participating in the Australian tennis tournaments can also distribute Grabyo-generated video content on their own social media channels as part of the deal.

Our global audience is incredibly engaged and hungry for great content, so by working with Grabyo we have created a content strategy that uniquely targets every possible market,” said Xaivier Muhlebach, supervising producer at Tennis Australia, in a press release. “Using this platform has given us the freedom to be creative and make great content without the concerns of distribution slowing us down.”

Grabyo’s studio solution reduces the time and resources needed to produce real-time highlights according to the company’s press release. The service also offers custom graphics and branding options that can be added to video content. Grabyo was founded in 2013. Its investors include Oliver Slipper, who is a co-founder of Perform Group, which owns the DAZN video streaming service. Grabyo’s live video production and distribution services have also been used by La Liga, the NHL, the English Premier League, and the FIFA World Cup.

DAZN will likely be one of many video distribution partners that Grabyo will streamline content to during the 2019 Australian Open. The Australian Open is part of the ATP Tour and WTA Tour calendars, both of which hold media rights partnerships with DAZN spanning several countries. However, DAZN is not currently available in Australia, so Grabyo may have to find another OTT streaming and video-on-demand distributing partner to reach native Australian fans.
