Founded in 2012, Milestone Sport’s mission is to deliver low cost, high value sensor-based products to the recreational sports community. The company’s latest gadget is an example of their determination to reach this goal.
The MilestonePod is worn on an individual’s shoelaces to help them track their miles and much more. The data collected by the extremely lightweight device is communicated via Bluetooth to a dedicated smartphone app for easy reference.
A total of 20 hours of walking or running feedback can be stored on the MilestonePod before syncing is necessary. In addition to mileage, this includes pace, stride length, and run history.
Runners will be provided with specific heel/toe measurements which will assist them choosing a pair of shoes that fits their unique foot strikes. Milestone believes it is important for runners to know their personal foot strike tendency (Heel/Mid/Toe) and the MilestonePod tracks this in percentages.
The battery within the device is promised to last longer than the typical pair of shoes so worrying about battery life is a thing of the past. Feel free to tackle the elements as MilestonePod is durable against rain, snow and sweat.
It’s ideal to keep the Pod on one shoe over the course of its “lifespan.” In the free MilestonePod app, users can view the mileage and other data on multiple pairs of shoes with multiple Pods.
The app also offers various graphs to help illustrate a user’s performance and progress during a session. It charts statistics such as pace versus stride length and pace versus cadence.
MilestonePods are available for purchase on their official website for $24.95 and limited retailers in the US and Canada.
