The Phoenix Suns And Mercury Form Creative Partnership To Help Their Community

The Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and IASIS Healthcare have recently unveiled a new healthcare clinic in the heart of downtown Phoenix, AZ. A $7.9 million project, this unique clinic is one of the first of its kind in the country. Inside the building, residents will be able to take advantage of the many practitioners and healthcare services IASIS has to offer.

The clinic will offer four hospitals with one being dedicated to behavioral health. Dentistry, women’s care, dermatology, sports medicine, and physical therapy are just some of the services that will be available to the community.  Also, the only MRI in the downtown Phoenix area will be provided there.

This is a concept where many potential opportunities for professional sports teams exist to give back to their communities in an impactful way. Most athletes and front office executives make their millions of dollars off of fan and community support. So it makes philosophical sense that fans should receive something in return.

Whether it involves charitable organizations or healthcare, every organization realizes that there is a bigger picture for the community than just giving them a great team to support. Fans need to know that the organization and its employees and athletes care for the wellness of the surrounding area. If teams don’t support the area, fans might begin to leave with the same level of uncaring. Sports franchises should use this exciting example as a stepping stone for their own endeavors.

Giving back to the community should always be a priority for any type of business. A prime example of giving back would be the Chicago Blackhawks. They are building a community center which hosts two brand new NHL sized ice rinks in Chicago. By building the rinks, the Blackhawks are trying to inspire more kids to play hockey in the city. In this case, they believe that protecting the future of hockey begins with the giving the youth a place to play and practice.

Health is one of the primary concerns for most people in the world these days. It isn’t something that can be taken for granted. Professional sports teams have some of the best doctors working with them to provide the athletes with great health care. It only makes sense to provide the same type of care to the community. Philanthropy is the ultimate thank you message to fans from teams and hopefully this partnership in Phoenix will lead the way to similar endeavors around the world.
