Snapchat has recently given people the ability to contribute to a “story” which allows users from all over the world to look at Snapchats of certain events. And of course, these story capabilities are perfect for sporting events. The Players Championship, which is taking place this week will be featured in a live Snapchat story for the first time.
Fans that use Snapchat in a certain geographic radius will have the chance to contribute their snaps on the last day of the tournament. “Geofilters”, which are unique tournament-related filters will also be available to add to the pictures that fans take at the event. The story, which will be available until 24 hours after the round, will be viewable for all Snapchat users and will be updated throughout the day. In the best interest of the players, fans are also reminded not to snap near ropes and to remain silent while on their devices onsite.

This is a very good opportunity for the PGA to share content with a younger audience as Snapchat stories generate an estimated 25-40 million unique views.
Besides Snapchat and the traditional outlets, fans can also utilize a few different apps and websites to follow the Players Championship this week. The PGA Tour app will be available on iPhones, Androids, iPads, and Window Phones and will allow fans to look at live leaderboards and scorecards as well as the latest news updates and videos on the tournament and specific players.
