When attending a sporting event, there are many factors that come into play. Whether it’s for business, leisure, or a combination of the two, those in attendance look to find the perfect accommodations to ensure that they get their money’s worth.  In a culture dominated by the newest and most innovative technology, there is now an app that assists sports fans in doing just that.

IdealSeat is a new mobile-based app that allows sports fans to find their perfect seat at a sporting event just by clicking on variety of different categories on their mobile device. By simply downloading the app, fans now have the option of choosing the best available seats either in the sun or in the shade, the most family-friendly set of seats for bringing a large crowd to the game, and even the option of choosing seats with the easiest access to bathrooms and food vendors. And for baseball fans, IdealSeat offers the possibility of choosing the best seats for being able to have the option of catching a foul or home run ball during the game.

The idea for the IdealSeat app began just a few years ago. After attending a Seattle Mariners home game at Safeco Field and watching a fan catch a foul ball, CEO of IdealSeat, Joel Carben, had his interest peaked and decided to track an in-game statistic that had not previously been tracked before – where is the best place to sit in order to catch a foul ball?

Carben and a few of his friends, now the head team of IdealSeat, set out to track statistics both on and off the field. The team then compiled their data into a mobile app dedicated solely for tracking and analyzing, and began getting inquiries from fans wanting to use data to enhance their odds of catching a foul ball. The convenience of catching a foul ball, as well as the ability for fans to pick and choose their desired seating localities, are just a few of the many ideas IdealSeat looks to offer. According to Adam Navarrete, CMO of IdealSeat, the team “has a roadmap full of updates we can’t wait to share.”

“As fans ourselves, it’s easy to dream up of new features. Keeping IdealSeat relevant and innovative comes down to providing fans with a great experience and the missing information they need to make sure they’re getting the seats they want at a great price.”

The IdealSeat team has recently partnered with Ticket Evolution, one of the most highly touted ticketing sites on the market. Since the partnership, IdealSeat’s user base has increased by over 20%, providing the site with the possibility to attract a wider variety of fans and the ability to develop more innovative ideas. Featured by prominent companies such as ESPN, TIME, FoxSports, YahooSports, SportsIllustrated, and The New York Times, IdealSeat will look to expand their amenities to different sports in the impending future.

“While we’re focused heavily on Major League Baseball right now,” says Navarrete, “We’re already working on what IdealSeat will look like in the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLS, with the NFL being our highest priority of the four.”

As part of the IdealSeat launch, the team will be visiting all 30 MLB stadiums within the next three months to host an #IdealSeatChallenge. The challenge will look to put their innovative ideas to the test, inviting fans to purchase tickets from the suggested “Foul Ball” or “Home Run Ball” section in order to win season tickets for the 2016 season.
