The sports world is expanding beyond just playing or watching. Especially with social media, sports are being consumed in new and different ways, whether it be virtual reality or fantasy games. On that note, TheScore, Inc. has launched a new daily fantasy game called QuickDraft to add to its mobile sports platform.
TheScore, Inc., a Toronto-based company, is an independent creator of mobile-first sports experiences. The mobile company connects fans to sports content through a combination of real-time news, scores, fantasy information and alerts and customizable content that is shareable. In the past TheScore has enhanced coverage for consumers by creating a newsfeed that includes the latest injury and selection updates. Players can use these updates as a resource when creating their line-ups in QuickDraft.

“Fantasy sports has lost its way by allowing gameplay that caters to professionals instead of sports fans. We think this makes for a poor experience,” said founder and CEO of theScore, John Levy. “QuickDraft provides a mobile-first and quick fantasy experience, with exclusive free-to-play cash contests that allows us to introduce this unique and fun game to as many sports fans as possible throughout the United States and Canada.”
QuickDraft is free to play and each contest offers cash prizes. Players can quickly draft line-ups of five athletes and then immediately get ready to play. There are both public and private contests. The public contests offer prize pools of tens of thousands of dollars a week. Or you can play for bragging rights with friends in the private contests.
Different from similar draft games like DraftKing and Fan Duel, QuickDraft aims to keep away sharks by having a smaller playing pool and smaller prizes. TheScore employees are also banned from playing.
QuickDraft is available on the App store and online in Canada and the United States. As of now, the fantasy game app offers only NFL contests, but players can expect other major league sports to be added to the game soon.
TheScore’s decision to launch QuickDraft and ultimate success of this new offering during such tumultuous times for daily fantasy sports will certainly be interesting to monitor moving forward.
