TriDot Hopes To Help Triathlon Athletes Improve Their Training With Cold Hard Data

TriDot, is a data collection and training tool for triathlon athletes of all skill levels competing at any distance. The company based in Southlake, Texas has been colleting data and performance metrics since 2004; but on February 18th they launched their new website and dashboard platform that hopes to improve their athletes training and results.

The goal of the company is to collect a massive amount of data from the individual athlete for all three aspects of a triathlon: swimming, biking, and running. They then use this information along with the data from other users they have on file to help athletes and coaches build personalized training programs, so they can optimize their time for greater results.

The company lists five basic steps for this process which help differentiate TriDot from other training and data collection methods, which are often one size fits all:

Steps 1-2: Describe and Define Your Training Data, Step 3: Use Technology to Discover Hidden Insight, Step 4: Design a Dynamic and Personalized Plan, Step 5: We Deliver Optimized Training for Better Results.

The coaching can be conducted from a distance, or in person depending on where current TriDot coaches are based; if the athlete feels the need to have one. However the company is designed to put athletes and coaches together in order to help them both, so they can focus on their specific goals to become more efficient.

The improvements to the TriDot system include being able to pair a user’s dashboard with a Garmin or Polar wearable device, for quicker results. Previously all data was self reported, and it still can be. They are also providing new do-it-yourself training options as well as the ability to set a greater amount of personal preferences, such as scheduling days off.

Some of the more enhanced and new features are the Season Planning Tool, which allows users to have an overview of what is to come for an extended period of time; helping them plan and prepare. Their new EnviroNorm Technology helps athletes and coaches determine how the weather in which they are training affects performance and results. Lastly there is a revised system of TriDot Scores for all three categories: BikeDot, SwimDot, RunDot. The new scores are 1-100, (it was previously 1-85) and also offers an overall TriDot Composite Score so users can quantify their progress in a very simplistic way.

TriDot wants to help all triathlon athletes, from beginners to Ironman record holders, improve their training and results in less time than previously thought possible. Their new comprehensive dashboard enables athletes and coaches to focus on key and unique metrics to help maximize their efforts. The company is currently offering a 14-day full access and free trial of their new and improved platform.
