UFC and the sports trading card company Topps have come together to create their first digital trading card app. The app, “Topps UFC KNOCKOUT 16” allows users to have a trading card experience and performance-based contests update throughout live UFC events. There are thousands of trading cards available including UFC’s most talented athletes like like heavy weight camp Daniel Cormier and women’s bantamweight camp Miesha Tate.

The Vice President and General Manager of Topps Digital Jeremy Strauser thinks the partnership will do well considering UFC’s global popularity, “We’re excited to expand on our relationship with the UFC by introducing engaging and easily accessible digital trading cards to keep up with the demand of UFC fans around the world.” This isn’t the first big partnership or project Topps has worked on this year.
Topps has been readily expanding since they started their digital only trading card service for the MLB in April. Their service allows for the use of on demand cards so that fans can get what is relevant, have more collectables, and remember more memorable moments in the MLB. Topps will use the same technology as it does for MLB with UFC. It will go through photos from fights and find the best pictures from UFC. Fans will be able to buy instant collectables and new cards will always be coming in.
