#WalkersWave Will Use AR To Unite Fans Ahead Of UEFA Champions League Final

Walkers Crisps has come up with a new way to unite fans ahead of the UEFA Champions League Final. As the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, the brand created an experience called the #WalkersWave. Through the use of augmented reality and social media integration, fans will be able to wave next to Walkers’ ambassador and English football legend, Gary Lineker.

Built in a “dugout” on Queen Street in Cardiff, fans can sit down, wait for a countdown from Lineker and have their wave projected on digital billboard opposite the dugout. Fans can then instantly share it to their social media accounts which will enter them into a drawing for a pair of tickets to the big game.

In an effort to make the fans an even larger part of the game, Walkers will be adding each recorded wave to a digital supporters stand outside of the National Stadium of Wales where the match will be played.

Head of UEFA Champions League Sponsorship at PepsiCo, Adam Warner had the following to say: “With the technical innovation behind the #WalkersWave, we’re not only giving fans in Cardiff and beyond the chance to take part in a unique, interactive experience that they can share socially, but we’re also giving the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the UEFA Champions League Final. Good luck to all our Walkers wavers!”

The dugout is currently open to all fans and will remain open until June 4, the day after the final.
