Xenoma Introduces E-skin Wearable Technology Shirt That Can Suggest Good Golfing Form


Wearable technology company Xenoma is working toward revolutionizing wearable electronic clothing with the release of e-skin, a smart shirt that can track motions and gestures in sports and fitness, helping athletes improve their form.

For example, in golf, the shirt can analyze the swing, form and stance before providing the athlete feedback such as if he or she has a reverse pivot or lateral sway.

The shirt is made with Printed Circuit Fabric, which was created by Xenoma’s materials and manufacturing processes. The material has stretchable wires and sensors integrated onto traditional textiles. The shirt features 14 sensors but are all hidden within the fabric, allowing users to wear the shirt like an everyday, regular shirt.

In the center of the shirt is the e-skin Hub, the centralized controller of the shirt. This hub transmits information to a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC via Bluetooth.

The e-skin software development kit supports app development on Windows and Android devices and uses the Unity game development engine. The Developer’s Kit also includes sample APIs for common movements and gestures such as running, jumping and punching.

The app also gives the user breathing analysis, poor posture alerts and “power measurements”.
