Leicester City complete Jonny Evans signing

Jonny Evans has completed his transfer from relegated West Brom to Leicester City on a three-year deal. The former Manchester United centre-back often impressed during his three years at The Hawthorns and had been heavily linked with Arsenal and Manchester City last year. But the 2017-18 season was a disaster for West Brom, as they were relegated from the Premier League despite a late push for survival under Darren Moore following the sacking of Alan Pardew. Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes the Swedish media are responsible for his World Cup omission. Ibrahimovic retired from international football after Sweden's underwhelming Euro 2016 campaign, when they were eliminated at the group stage. Since then, the fiery striker has continued to impress in front of goal with Manchester United and now LA Galaxy and he appeared to be eager on a return to the Sweden team for the World Cup, hinting several times that he would play in Russia. Although there was already a coaching team in place, Van Marwijk insisted upon putting together his own structure, despite reportedly being told by Football Federation Australia (FFA) there were insufficient funds to do so. Van Marwijk – who will be replaced by Sydney FC boss Graham Arnold after the World Cup – was not to be deterred, however, opting to pay...

Lyon deny Fekir is close to Liverpool move

Lyon have categorically denied reports that Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal to sign star forward Nabil Fekir. Fekir has emerged as a priority target for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who is looking to build on Liverpool's impressive run to the Champions League final. Liverpool have been proactive in the transfer market already, with Naby Keita set to join from RB Leipzig having agreed a deal last year, while Fabinho – a regular opponent of Fekir in Ligue 1 with Monaco – has also signed. Numerous forwards have been linked with a move to Anfield, but reports of an agreement with Lyon for the transfer of Fekir began to intensify on Thursday, with some even suggesting an announcement was expected within 24...
