Fantasy football Gameweek 4 tips – three players to buy, and one to avoid
For two weeks running, we've brought in an attacking player only to see him get sent straight off. Jamie Vardy (GW2) and Richarlison (GW3) have spoiled things for Team @FantasyYIRMA up front – earning only minus points and bans – and reminded us that investing prudently at the back can provide outsized returns.Better luck this week, eh?Buy! Nacho Monreal (DF, £5.5m)Owned by: 1.7%Nacho Monreal might be 32 now, but the popular Spaniard continues to rack up impressive numbers on a consistent basis. Just last year the Arsenal defender managed five goals and two assists in limited time (2,241 minutes). With Unai Emery's defensive corps limited, Monreal has no challengers for playing time during the softest stretch in the Gunners’ schedule. Cardiff (a), Newcastle (a), Everton (h), Watford (h) and Fulham (a) are their next five matches, and even if Sead Kolasinac returns early you'll still have Monreal starting against Leicester (h) and Crystal Palace (a) to see you through October with plenty of returns banked.Buy! Cenk Tosun (FW, £7.0m)Owned by: 5.5%West Ham have allowed the second-most shots on target (23) and the most goals (9) of any side in the Premier League. Right behind the Hammers are Fulham (seven goals from 22 on target) and Huddersfield (nine goals from 22 on target). By targeting forwards facing the most porous defences, therefore, you'll gain an edge. So let's look at the colanders – sorry, thecalendar. Over the next two weeks there's one side – Everton – that faces two of the worst three defences and get them both at home. With Richarlison suspended, Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m, 1.5% ownership) and Tosun are both worth adding ahead of the international break; Huddersfield visit Goodison this weekend, and West Ham arrive on September 16. Kurt Zouma also deserves consideration with injuries limiting Michael Keane and Yerry Mina. Defenders are cheap avenues into teams with kind fixtures.Buy! Andre Schurrle (MF, £5.9m)Owned by: 3.8%Schurrle was on a one-man mission to destroy Burnley last weekend, firing off 11 shots against the Clarets – 20% of all the efforts Sean Dyche’s side have allowed this season. More importantly, five of those were on target. Last season, Burnley allowed only four shots on target per match. Now, maths isn't our strong suit but we're fairly sure that 5 4.Up next for Fulham and Schurrle is a trip to Brighton, which is a prime opportunity for returns – and even better, the midfielder has had his price drop this week. Adding on-loan Atletico forward Luciano Vietto to the starting XI gives depth to the Cottagers’ attack and creates additional space for the Germany international to exploit.Schurrle isn’t going to attempt11 shots every match, but his potential is finally being matched with playing time.Bye! Jose Holebas (DF, £4.7m)Owned by: 9.5%Watford’s Holebas has been exceptional in the opening three weeks, scoring one goal, bagging two assists, a clean sheet and four bonus points. As a result, his ownership has soared to 9.5%.Unfortunately for Holebas and the rest of the Hornets' back four, their schedule is about to take a turn for the worse. Watford host Spurs and Manchester United either side of the international break, and travel to Arsenal on September 29.If you've bought into Holebas before his price rise, this may be a ‘hold’ and not a ‘sell’, but if you're looking to capitalise on the best match-ups every weekend or planning to use your wildcard over the break, he should be one of the first names transferred out.SEE ALSO28 red-hot Fantasy Premier League tips from old winners and expertsFantasyYIRMAstarted in 2012, focused on FPL news and previews.
