The 21-year-old Russian captured his first ATP World Tour title at the Sydney International with victory over 18-year-old Australian wild card Alex de Minaur. It was the youngest tour-level final since Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic at the 2007 BNP Paribas Open. Medvedev rises up 31 places to No. 53 in the ATP Rankings, just five spots off his career-high of No. 48 on 24 July 2017. De Minaur jumped 40 positions to No. 127 in the new list. The popular Argentine returned to the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings for the first time since 4 August 2014 (No. 10) after he finished runner-up to Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in the ASB Classic final. It is a dramatic return for del Potro, who was No. 1,045 in the ATP Rankings on 8 February 2016 after only two tournaments in the previous 24 months.
